Wake up your brain! Your memory will say "thank you!"

Wake Up Your Brain!

What is meant by "waking up your brain?"

Have you ever walked into a room and forgotten why you went in there?

Perhaps the cause was that an area of your brain was sleeping…maybe you were distracted or worrying about something else. What we have witnessed over and over again is that stress and memory DO NOT get along at all! The way to fix this? Waking up your brain by engaging the six areas of cognitive function!

We have helped our clients (always with humor!) better understand the situations of forgetfulness that they are not always able to recognize themselves. While presenting our programs, we explain in several different ways why distractions play a big part in forgetfulness and that FOCUS IS KEY to remembering and waking up your brain

We provide customized individual sessions, adjusting to the cognitive level of the senior and the progression of any cognitive impairment. Family members and caregivers receive Brain Fitness handouts, exercises, communication tips, stimulating activities, and music therapy based upon the interests and needs of the client.

A sample of our customized handouts...

From 2012 through 2019, Tee worked with a private client who, at the start of their sessions, had just been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. It was during one of these private sessions, when she was trying to remember the name of someone famous, that she said “he had crazy hair, was funny, and he was quite famous, I remember that.”

With the assistance of a family member, Tee learned that it was none other than Albert Einstein the client was thinking of! She retrieved some pictures from the internet, and found that Einstein loved playing the violin, something shared by the client’s husband. This customized Brain Fitness exercise was such fun for the client, who, to this day, after remembering who the “crazy-haired man” was, smiles whenever she sees his picture.

What is the "Laughter IS Your Best Medicine!" program?

“Laughter IS Your Best Medicine!” is a video presentation that effectively enables participants to experience the benefits of laughter. Laughter creates an environment conducive to the release of beta-endorphins. Beta-endorphins are chemicals that are released throughout the body, helping us to feel good and wake up the brain. These beta-endorphins cause the good feelings we feel when we stop to smell the roses or experience/re-experience a heartwarming moment. Our “Laughter IS Your Best Medicine!” videos are either uploaded as a video file or mailed to you as a DVD.

What is the "Wake Up Your Brain" Focus Group?

This program is comprised of six consecutive weeks of sixty-minute group sessions, presented through video conferencing software. It focuses upon the six cognitive areas of the brain, with the goal of empowering participants to recognize and exercise their cognitive domains daily.

What is the "Wake Up Your Brain" Caregiver Training Program?

In this program, caregivers are empowered with communication tools that can make difficult situations easier to handle. Direct instruction and handouts provide caregivers (or family members) with the ability to assess an individual’s cognitive age. Caregivers are coached on how to redirect a senior, as well as avoid personal burnout.
